CHS, a provider of edible oils and other agricultural products and services, has simplified its equipment maintenance by using Croll-Reynolds'' ejectors for processing soybean oils.
Chuck Kortuen, chief engineer at the CHS Mankato, MN plant, fitted out existing steam chest nozzle assemblies with Teflon liners specifically designed by Croll-Reynolds, Westfield, NJ. Teflon was applied to nozzle holders and successfully stopped degradation caused by soybean oil collecting at the ejector nozzles.
In the past, Kortuen reports, the 304 stainless steel ejector nozzles frequently required cleaning as part of a 6 month corrective maintenance cycle. Now, with the Teflon-lined assembly, nothing sticks or clogs the nozzles.
CR ejectors are used throughout the edible oil industry for refining and processing vegetable oils and flavorings. The ejectors operate without moving parts and seldom require maintenance.
