Steam Joints, Stationary Siphons Aid Papermaking Industry

Working closely with many of the world''s largest paper manufacturers and machine builders, Deublin''s product engineers have been developing products for the papermaking industry since 1985, beginning with introduction of a new technology for condensate removal from paper machine dryers. Products today include steam/hot oil joints, siphon systems, turbulence bars, and other related ancillary equipment. Since no single system is universally effective, a number of different joints and siphon systems have been developed to assure maximum performance under different operating conditions. (Shown here, FSC Series joint.)

HPS Steam Joint: Designed for use on corrugating machines, HPS Series self-supported steam joint has dual bushing type bearings, convex antimony impregnated carbon graphite seal to withstand high steam pressures, and external siphon clearance adjustment. It is designed for speeds up to 400 rpm and operating steam pressure of 250 psi. The steam joint also features ductile iron housing, stainless steel spring, and a special collet attachment that eliminates siphon breakage.

FSU/Deltasint Stationary Siphon: Another development was the design and successful application of a stationary siphon system to high-speed papermaking. Today, there are over 15,000 successful installations of stationary siphons on high-speed machines.

The Deublin FSU/Deltasint Stationary Siphon provides the following advantages:

  • Reduction of differential pressure

  • Reduction of blow through steam

  • Elimination of dryer flooding

  • No moving parts

  • Rigid mechanical mounting

  • Hydroplaning siphon pick-up shoe design.
