New SDS Series Linear Translation Stages from Newport Corp offer exceptional precision, stability, and load capacity through advanced and innovative design and premium materials selection. Featuring a number of unique design features as well as stainless steel construction, SDS Series low-profile stages are built with special profiled bearing ways that provide extended contact with the ball bearings and achieve higher stiffness and load capability (up to 39 lb) than classical V-groove bearing ways or steel rod guides. This results in maximum stiffness, exceptional load bearing and high-performance travel over a full 25mm for maximum flexibility. Stainless steel construction gives them higher rigidity, better long-term stability, and superior clean room acceptability over aluminum stages.
SDS Series Stages are equipped with a side-mounted micrometer that minimizes the overall stage envelope and, unlike most center-drive stages, does not increase stage height. A non-influencing locking mechanism located on the same side as the micrometer secures the stage position with negligible motion when the lock is engaged or disengaged. These advanced design features and overall robustness make them ideal for applications requiring precise manual adjustment with pitch and yaw of less than 200 and 100 microradians respectively. The low profile SDS stage are perfectly suited for industrial OEM integration in semiconductor equipment, aerospace and medical instruments and similar applications where maximum travel flexibility coupled with extreme stability, precision, and capacity is required. SDS stages are also ideal for a wide range of research applications.
SDS stages are available in three footprint sizes, 25 x 25, 40 x 40, and 65 x 65 mm, and are supplied with a precision micrometer already installed. They can be directly stacked into an XY-configuration, and an XYZ assembly can be built using the available 90° angle brackets.
