IEN: What are the major concerns facing providers of assembly technology?
Attarian: Providers of assembly technology, products, and services must be able to satisfy evolving customer demands for components and systems that can contribute to production economies and efficiencies without compromising end-product integrity. The primary goal remains throughout industry to deliver innovative and effective technology that can save time and money during the assembly process.
IEN: How can these concerns be addressed?
Attarian: For us this means developing multi-duty fastening devices; new manufacturing methods (and diverse materials) to reduce the costs of hardware components; automated assembly tools and ''smart'' software for error-free, fast, dependable hardware handling and installation; and fastening and assembly methods to address trends in the use of thinner/lighter materials, higher-strength materials, corrosion-resistance, and the joining of dissimilar materials.
