IEN: What are the R & D hotspots, and which R & D areas are closest to commercialization?
Garbarino: ISO Valve Development of 15407-2 (18mm and 26mm plug-in ISO Valves):
18mm and 26mm wide ISO valves are under development with flow of 0.5 Cv and 1.0 Cv respectively. Once these products are commercially available, end users will be able to specify ISO, plug-in, pneumatic valves with flow ranges between 0.5, 18mm, size 02, to Size 4, 7.40 Cv. Plug-in ISO 15407-2 valves will feature various collective wiring, discrete wiring, and serial communications options. Size 02, 18mm, and size 01, 26mm, will feature M12 and/or M8 connectors on the top of the valve body.
End users currently are able to order non-plug-in ISO valve sizes 02, 01 (ISO 15407-1), and 1, 2, 3,4 (5599-1), with flows ranging from 0.5 Cv to 7.40 Cv. ISO 15407-1, non-plug-in 18mm and 26mm valves have been around for roughly 6-8 years and are very popular in Europe, with a growing awareness in the USA.
When ISO 15407-1/2, non-plug-in and plug-in pneumatic ISO valves are commercially available, in conjunction with the existing 5599-1/2 non-plug-in and plug-in pneumatic ISO valves, end users will be able to specify fully featured pneumatic valves, in all flow ranges, which are dimensionally interchangeable among all pneumatic valve manufacturers. End users will benefit by having products in their facilities which are globally available and supported while being interchangeable among all manufacturers.
