Connector and EMI Cages For SFP Optical Transceiver Applications
The 20-pin SMT connector and a complete line of EMI cages for SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) optical transceiver applications are available from Samtec, simplifying purchasing and inventory control of Ethernet distribution products with only SFP slots (connectors and cages). This allows any desired SFP transceivers or patch cables to be plugged in as needed.
Samtec has teamed with Picolight, Inc to offer their OptoCage™ SFP cages from Samtec stock (SFPC series) to complement the 20-pin connector (MECT series). The Picolight OptoCage™ features a one-piece design, superior EMI suppression characteristics, and rigid materials and construction, ensuring stability as well as the industry''s highest retention force (patent pending). The SMT connector and cages (including press-fit, PCI press-fit, and solder lead versions) are designed to the exact SFP specification, making them compatible with all make and model SFP optical transceivers and patch cables. Components may be ordered individually (MECT and SFPC series) or as a package kit (SFPK series).
Guide Post Feature Provides Flexibility with Accurate Mating
Samtec''s .8mm (.0315 in.) pitch high speed interfaces (QTE/QSE-GP Series) feature a Guide Post option to accurately align the connectors when mating. This feature is especially desirable in applications requiring two boards to be blind mated.
Additionally, various mounting configurations allow for traditional parallel board stacking, perpendicular mating of boards such as in daughtercard applications, and horizontal (coplanar) "pizza box" type of applications. Typical applications for these connectors are servers, routers, set top boxes, network systems, switchers, hubs bridges, industrial computers, test systems, and RAID systems.
These connectors are part of Samtec''s Q-Strip™ family of high speed interfaces and are rated for use up to 2.33 GHz depending on specific application and interface.
Samtec offers a complete line of micro pitch interfaces for matched impedance and high speed applications. These include .5mm (.0197 in.) pitch (QTH/QSH Series) with up to 300 I/Os and .025 in. (.635mm) pitch (QTE/QSE Series) with up to 250 I/Os. The .8mm (.0315 in.) pitch (QTE/QSE Series) has up to 200 I/Os.
