EPOS 24/1 is a digital motion controller capable of position, velocity, and current mode. Available in two versions for brush or brushless motors, its small package size -- 55 x 40 x 25 mm (2.2 x 1.6 x 1 in.), weighing 45 g (1.6 oz) -- and cost-efficient design makes EPOS 24/1 ideal for controlling small motors. Communication is via RS-232 or CANopen; software for CANopen and Windows DLLs is complimentary.
Requiring a supply voltage of 9-24 Vdc, the controller is capable of 1 A max continuous current and 2 A peak current, with up to 85% efficiency. The 50 kHz switching frequency and built-in choke insure compatibility with most low inductance motors, while the sinusoidal commutation for brushless motors insures minimal torque ripple and low noise. Maximum motor speed is 25,000 rpm for 2-pole motors. Maximum encoder input frequency of 1 MHz, six digital inputs, two digital outputs, and two analog inputs allows for maximum flexibility.
Due to its high efficiency and small size, the EPOS 24/1 is suitable for a variety of applications including handheld and battery-powered devices, test and measurement equipment, pick-and-place machines, motorized stages, optics, pumps, air samplers, and robotics.
