Keeping environmental responsibilities, efficiency of resources, and well-being of employees top of mind, decision makers at Rocky Mountain Hardware chose pinta acoustic products for installation in the company’s new headquarters facility in Hailey, ID.
“We chose Squareline® Metal Ceiling Tiles because they have a recycled material content. Our new facility is LEED Gold certified,” says Rocky Mountain’s Dave Johanningmeier. “We’re a family-owned business, so our employee well-being is paramount to us. Noise pollution detracts from the ideal workplace environment and compromises communication. Mistakes can happen when employees can’t decipher directions, and morale suffers when employees can’t converse. We wanted to maximize acoustic control with products designed to absorb excess noise in certain areas. pinta acoustic Sonex® Valueline Panels and Baffles helped us accomplish that goal.

Throughout its office and reception areas, Rocky Mountain Hardware installed 6,200 sq ft of Squareline Standard Metal Ceiling Tiles in customized black, with a charcoal backer. Throughout production areas, Rocky Mountain Hardware installed 640 sq ft of Sonex Valueline Panels in light grey. And 4,700 sq ft of Sonex Valueline Baffles were installed throughout 30,000 sq ft of production space.
“For the ceiling, we wanted something that was different and eye-catching, and we achieved that with Squareline,” says Johanningmeier. “In our production areas, we wanted to reduce the noise from vibratory and machining equipment. Sonex Valueline Panels and Baffles were the right solution. Acoustical tests showed a great improvement in noise levels. And the Sonex Valueline Wall Panels helped to significantly control noise generated by our compressor room. We’re very pleased with the outcomes. The products really work.”
Squareline Standard Metal Ceiling Tiles are constructed of expanded metal that has a recycled material content between 35-50%, which qualifies for LEED credits. These tiles are also available in Ultra, a large mesh pattern, or Medium, a midsize pattern. Squareline Standard color choices are chrome, white, or customized colors. Tiles are available with a pre-bonded optional 0.25 in. light grey or charcoal willtec® FM acoustical material that offers a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of 0.55. Tiles fit pinta acoustic and standard ceiling grids.
Sonex Valueline Panels provide acoustic control across all frequencies, with NRCs ranging from 0.75 to 1.05. Panels are particularly effective at absorbing excessive sound at middle frequencies, where communication is often hampered. Sonex Valueline Panels feature a subtle surface pattern, and are made from willtec foam, which is Class 1 fire rated for flame spread and smoke density. The panels -- available in natural, painted, and Hypalon®-coated finishes -- easily mount on any ceiling or wall surface with pinta’s acouSTIC adhesive.
Sonex Valueline Baffles have the same subtle surface pattern as Sonex Valueline Panels. They absorb sound energy from multiple sides, reducing noise and reverberation. Baffles are available in horizontal and vertical configurations, and are fitted with stainless steel corkscrew hangers for easy installation from walls and ceilings with pinta’s hanging system. Baffles are made from willtec foam and are available in natural, painted and Hypalon-coated finishes.
