Very short reach (VSR) nLighten solves data capacity and space problems inherent to copper-based interconnects. Transmitter/receiver is 12-channel 850 nm VCSEL-based parallel optical link that transfers aggregate bandwidth of 19.2 Gbps (1.6 Gbps/channel) up to 300 m. It occupies less than 20 mm of board width. Device is compatible with company's FO ribbon interconnects or with standard FDDI grade 62.5 µm multimode ribbon fiber.
