New Vision Sensor System Offers Speed & High Performance

Advances in Machine Vision Technology

Omron provides specific features in our machine vision sensors to satisfy certain types of applications. These features include specific inspection tools like:

  • Classification for sorting packages by label or size;

  • Fine Matching for determining small imperfections in label graphics and text with high accuracy;

  • Edge Width and Position detection to a sub-pixel level for greater part gauging accuracy;

  • Edge Code Defect Detection for finding surface flaws like scratches on conditioned or machined surfaces, chips on the edges of objects, and surface flaws in hard-to-inspect objects like O-rings with a high degree of accuracy;

  • and Omron''s Quest OCR/OCV detection for highly reliable date/lot code reporting even with changes in character size, inclination, blurriness, and width.

Omron can also solve many applications in the packaging, electronics, automotive, and pharmaceutical industries with hardware features like real-time rotation search for label or object position compensation in an image. Omron''s multiple cameras provide multiple angles with high-speed image acquisition to meet high-speed or complex gauging and inspection applications.

New Vision Sensor System Offers Speed & High Performance

F210 high-speed vision sensor combines image acquisition as fast as 1.4 ms with advanced measurement algorithms for faster measurement and inspection operations. Sensor can perform measurement cycles of as fast as 3ms when used with Omron''s F160-S2 double speed camera. System uses Omron''s QUEST algorithm for superior OCR/OCV capability and new Edge Code technology for unmatched defect detection, position, and location capability.

Edge Code defect detector can be used for detecting precise defects of parts on a conveyor, like scratches on a sealing surface. OCR/OCV capability can read and confirm lot codes on pill bottles. Fine Matching algorithm enables detection of differences between a user-taught model and a live image, including fine defects on labels that less accurate algorithms cannot catch.

F210 also features productivity tools. Intelligent Light Source (ILS) controls light source intensity and direction and can also save settings internally. System does internal trending for statistical process control and tolerance monitoring.

Available with two cameras for multi-angle inspections and/or wide-area field of view measurements, F210 system is ideal for packaging inspection applications, especially in high-speed food and drug operations, and in automotive assembly line and part inspection. It can also be used effectively in material handling, pharmaceutical, robotic guidance, and electronics applications.
