Cognex Corp's In-Sight™ vision sensors can now read and verify RSS (Reduced Space Symbology) codes used on pharmaceutical packages for product identification and traceability. RSS codes are space-efficient, linear bar codes that are used to mark small "unit-of-use" products, such as individual medicine doses and blister-packed tablets, which cannot be marked with UPC or standard bar codes.
In-Sight vision sensors are high performance, online inspection devices used in a variety of pharmaceutical applications, including optical character verification, 2D code reading, blister pack inspection, and label and safety seal inspection. Each sensor provides field-proven Cognex vision software tools, a vision spreadsheet interface for fast, easy application setup, and built-in Ethernet communications. To facilitate compliance with U.S. Food and Drug Administration's 21 CFR Part 11 regulations, Cognex has authored and published detailed Application Guidelines for developing 21 CFR Part 11-compliant automation projects that incorporate machine vision technology.
