Three-phase, Synchronous, Linear Motors
The DSL 56 from Baumuller is characterized by compactness, excellent dynamic response qualities, and peak powers for linear motion. Baumuller servomotors and integrated (roller/ball) screws combine to produce the highest dynamic response in a compact frame size. The DSL 56 is ideal for applications in the automotive and handling or printing and plastics industries.
With the repeating accuracy and control features of the DSL motors, reproducibility of products shows a marked increase. An example from the robotics industry: the DSL 56 is optimally employed to control electrode holders. In contrast to conventional pneumatic linear drives, the DSL 56, used in combination with the b maXX from Baumuller, can continuously control the entire motion cycle of the welding process, eliminating inaccuracies caused by compressible media. The process is reproducible and offers high repeating accuracy.
The DSL 56 is available in two versions: the roller screw, for high-force and high-speed applications; and the less expensive ball screw for simpler applications.
Complete Automation Solution For Extruders
With the addition of a new temperature controller that is controlled via CANopen, Baumuller now presents a complete solution for extrusion technology, rounding off a portfolio that focused on drives and control units and extended to operation and control cabinets.
The extruder is controlled and regulated via the Drive-PLC from the b maXX series. The temperature controller enhances the original system with a decisive component: with integration of the standalone temperature controller into the automation concept, Baumuller now offers the complete solution from one source. The controller can be fully integrated into the system via CANopen.
The Baumuller extruder is characterized by the direct drive technology that is employed. The gearless DST motors with torques of up to 13,500 Nm and low speeds of 100-300 rpm are practically maintenance-free. Technically sophisticated belt and toothed drives are no longer required. Utilization of direct drive technology reduces the customers'' time and cost-intensive maintenance intervals to a minimum. Hence, the availability of the extrusion lines will increase significantly. The utilization of water cooling paves the way for a very compact design in spite of the high power rating, and the motors can therefore be easily integrated into the machine concept.
The "face" of the machine -- the operating terminal -- is equipped in line with customer requirements: the operating and visualization range from Baumuller includes simple HMIs with 2-10 characters as well as touch panels and even extends to IPCs with a 15 in." screen.
System Architectures Without Drive Technology and PC
The compact, standalone SPS b_maXX controllerPLC, designed for automation and motion control tasks, meets the requirements of machine manufacturers for scalability, modularization, and system integration. By means of the new standalone SPS, system architectures without drive technology and PC can be implemented.
I/O clamps can be attached directly to the top hat rail SPS, i.e. without additional bus coupler. Up to 64 analog and digital I/O clamps, as well as up to 512 inputs and outputs, can be aligned. As aligned modules for the b maXX-controllerPLC, communication modules for Ethernet, CANopen master and slave, CANsync master and slave, profibus slave, and a combined module Ethernet/CANopen master are available. With a construction depth of 90 mm, b maXX-controllerPLC does have space in the smallest switch box.
The b maXX-controllerPLC is adapted for central, decentralized, and hybrid concepts. Program memory capacity is 400.000 lines AWL maximum. Just as the drive SPS bmaXX-drivePLC, the b maXX-controllerPLC handles 1000 lines AWL in 100µs.
With b maXX-drivePLC, b maXX-softPLC, and b maXX-controllerPLC, Baumüller offers a universal concept for drive solutions for central, decentralized, and hybrid architectures. Uniform programming with Proprog wt II as per standard IEC 61131, as well as the steady volume of standard, communication, upgrade libraries, and Motion Control modules as per PLCopen, ensures full software compatibility of all drive concepts, independent of architecture and machine or facility concept. All five languages of the IEC 61131 can be applied. For the three different drives, identical engineering tools such as motion or hardware configuration are available so that a switchover from one stage to others requires only a change of resource. Via OPC server all three drives are fully integrated into the automation structure.
