Certificate Programs

The certificate programs are offered by Productivity Inc. and the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. They offer a carefully sequenced array of modules designed to give participants the greatest exposure to the fundamental techniques of Lean in a short amount of time. Participation and completion of the certificate programs allows participants to: support their organization's Lean Manager, build their Lean lexicon, share a common knowledge of the fundamental tools of Lean, see firsthand how the tools fit together, gain the knowledge they will need to begin work on Lean projects in their own facilities.

The Lean philosophy is based on the need for the educational development of all individuals within an organization. Each level of the organization has special education needs that allow them to fulfill their unique role in the Lean roll out. Productivity's Lean Management System recommends:

  • Lean Executive: Create and maintain the vision of a Lean enterprise. Design a Lean production system and establish performance measurements. Allocate resources to the implementation efforts. Make Lean an integral part of the organization's culture. Prepare customers and suppliers for the Lean journey.

  • Lean Manager: Act as a principal change agent at each manufacturing site. Lead and direct site teams. Mentor and coach Lean Practitioners.

  • Lean Practitioner: Participate in deployment teams as part of daily work. Mentor and coach all subordinates.

  • Enterprise Associates: Adhere to standardized work. Monitor production, conditions. Identify human error and abnormalities in processes and equipment. Participate in problem-solving to improve products and production operations. Prevent errors and abnormalities from recurring.
