Latest High-End Security and Surveillance System Demonstrated to Security Professionals

System Recently Selected for Pentagon and by Secret Service

Cypress, CA, December 11, 2001 -- More than 80 security professionals from the military, government agencies, law enforcement, airports, local ports, and Fortune 500 companies viewed the latest in high-end security and surveillance technology at the "Mind Over Security Matters" conference. Held November 28 in the Los Angeles suburb of Cypress, the event was hosted by Hoffman Video Systems in partnership with Avitech, Christie Digital Systems, and 360 Surveillance. Attendees were given a demonstration of the state-of-the-art security and surveillance system selected by the Secret Service and recently purchased by the U.S. Government for the Pentagon, and installed at Pearl Harbor.

Keynote speaker Chris Sherman, president of Inter-Con Security, reviewed the state of security and surveillance both before and after September 11, emphasizing security's new proactive role in protecting both facilities and people. "People, programs, and technology are the keys," he said. "There is now a rethinking on the quality of security. No longer does the lowest price win."

During the presentation, heads of security saw an intuitive surveillance system with broadcast-quality, full-color monitoring displays within a programmable system, which allows users to monitor facilities or events where hundreds of images are in play. Images can be programmed to appear on monitor displays incorporating motion detection, such as when a person enters a doorway, or monitors can instantaneously switch to a specific area when an alarm goes off. With a simple drag-and-drop of a mouse button, a user can view any area, pan left and right, or zoom in on an image, with crystal clarity.

Easy labeling and assignment of cameras allows for fast setups and camera changes, and permits a user to pull up images quickly by simply typing in the label name of each monitor. The system was built to be reliable for industries that depend on a constantly running system, such as television news broadcasting. "A bad security system kills productivity, but an intelligent process of surveillance increases productivity," explained Gil Davenport of Avitech, demonstrating the new technology.
