A new method for labeling bulk storage areas, the Sky-Marx Floor Label Replacement System™, has been installed in a 3 million sq ft distribution center operated by a leading international retailer. Fewer than 600 ceiling-mounted Sky-Marx strips replaced more than 4,500 floor labels, each identifying a bulk storage lane. Each strip contains prepositioned bar code and human-readable labels matching the respective storage lane below it and allowing unobstructed viewing and scanning.
The Sky-Marx system places labels on durable netting which is suspended overhead in storage areas to identify locations or storage positions. Reliable scanning is made possible by use of high quality label materials, and easy installation is facilitated by its lightweight, sturdy design. Offering unobstructed viewing and scanning, Sky-Marx strips are available in lengths from 25-300 ft and widths from 8 in. to 7.5 ft.
Benefits include elimination of floor label maintenance and replacement costs, improved scannability and readability, and a significant reduction in data collection errors. The system solves the widespread problem of floor labels becoming obscured, damaged, or missing.
