Kaman Aerospace, a Bloomfield, CT-based manufacturer of helicopters and a major subcontractor for commercial and military aircraft, has selected Eventra's VendorSite solution to manage its planning, forecasting, and collaborative supplier communications.
VendorSite is an Internet-based software solution providing manufacturers with a "window" into their inbound supply chain. Requiring only Internet access and a standard Web browser, it enables the electronic exchange of plans, schedules, shipment notices, payment details, and more. Using VendorSite, manufacturers and their suppliers can conduct business more easily, faster, and more reliably.
Eventra just finished Kaman's VendorSite pilot stage with 15 test suppliers and will increase to a total of 40 suppliers by the end of the year. Vendors range from small businesses to manufacturers that supply hundreds of parts. In order to convert Kaman to VendorSite, Eventra had to interface with the company's legacy system. VendorSite set up a value-added system that distributes quality information to Kaman's supplier base.
"Our company had no electronic linkage in place for managing the supply chain," says Jack Bergquist, vice-president, contracts management and procurement. "All transactions were completed via phone, fax, or mail. Eventra helped us improve our system and management of the supplier base with their VendorSite solution. We look forward to greater efficiency and cost-savings afforded by having our direct materials suppliers linked electronically."
"We are pleased that Kaman, a leading company in the aerospace industry, has selected VendorSite," adds Stuart Sawabini, president and CEO of Eventra. "We are confident that VendorSite is providing Kaman with an efficient way to manage its direct materials procurement. We look forward to these long-term, valuable relationships with companies like Kaman who realize the strategic importance of saving time and money in the inbound supply chain management process."
