Inserts with diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating have low friction coefficient of µ=0.05-0.2, even without lubricants. Aluminum alloy adhesion on edge can be suppressed during dry machining to decrease cutting resistance. Other properties include high hardness, smooth surface, corrosion resistance, and low wear rate.
