Based on an all-new platform, Shark 100 has high-end meter performance that works for new metering applications as well as simple replacement to existing analog meters. With only 3.25 in. behind the panel, Shark 100 fits applications in which space is at a premium. Economical pricing starts at $345.
With 0.2% reading accuracy for energy readings, Shark 100 meets ANSI C12.20 and IEC 687 accuracy classes. It measures volts, amps, frequency, %THD, and all energy functions. Unit utilizes high speed DSP technology with high resolution A/D conversion to provide revenue certifiable accuracy for utility billing, substation metering, submetering, and critical metering applications, and is typically better than 0.1% energy meter with field testing capability.
- Utility Peak Demand Metering: Shark 100 provides user-configured fixed window or rolling window demand, so user can set up specific utility demand profile. All other parameters offer max and min capability over user-selectable averaging period. Voltage provides instantaneous max/min reading, displaying highest surge and lowest sag seen by meter.
- High Speed Modbus and DNP 3.0 Communication: Shark provides RS485 communication speaking Modbus ASCII, Modbus RTU, or DNP 3.0 protocol. Baud rates are from 9,600-57,600.
- PDA Access to Change Parameters: Optical IrDA port allows unit to be set up and programmed using PDA or remote laptop without a communication cable. With Communicator EXT COPILOT, a Windows CE software package, user simply points at Shark, configures it, and polls readings using any pocket PC PDA.
- Easy to Use and Install: From user interface to mechanical construction, Shark is straightforward and intuitive to install. It can be programmed using PDA, PC computer, or simple keypad interface. Technician using PC or PDA can see visual phasor diagram of vectors, ensuring that CT and Voltage polarities are correct. All inputs are color coordinated, with clear, simple-to-understand labeling to avoid cross-wiring mistakes. Shark's large .56 in., 3-line LED display makes panel application readings easy, even in direct sunlight.
- Superior Voltage and Current Input Design: Meter's rugged design suits harsh electrical applications on both high- and low-voltage power systems. Environmental rating for operation is -30 to +70 deg C. NEMA 12 design and 6 kV surge withstand ensure reliability. Voltage inputs allow measurement to 416 volts line to neutral and 721 volts line to line. Current inputs uniquely use a dual input method. With CT pass-through method, CT passes directly through without any physical termination on meter, so meter cannot be a point of failure on circuit. Current "Gills" method provides additional ultra-rugged termination pass-through bars, allowing CT leads to be terminated on the meter.
- Optimize Investment with Post-Installation Field Upgrading: Shark 100 is equipped with EIG's exclusive V-Switch® Technology. Virtual switch technology allows users, OEMs, or power utilities to minimize different levels of meters and reduce stocking to one type of hardware. With V-Switches, you can purchase what you require now and field upgrade functionality as needed.
- Universal Physical Configuration: Unit mounts directly in an ANSI C39.1 (4 in. round form) and an IEC 92 mm DIN square form. In new installations, simply use existing DIN or ANSI punches. For existing panels, pull out old analog meters and place this meter in its place. Meter uses standard voltage and current inputs so that CT and PT wiring does not need to be replaced.
