Cameron, a division of Cooper Cameron Corp and a leading international manufacturer of oil and gas pressure control equipment, has chosen GE Fanuc Automation North America, Inc., as the critical controls supplier for its enhanced CAMTROL™ Subsea Production Control Systems product line. The CAMTROL system is currently operating subsea in major installations in Asia Pacific, Europe, and West Africa for such companies as ChevronTexaco and Amerada Hess. The first CAMTROL system incorporating the GE Fanuc controls will be installed later this year in Asia Pacific.
"Cameron Controls chose the GE Fanuc automation because of reliability certifications from independent agencies, simplicity of programming, and the capability of the application logic built into the processors," said Don Schortgen, vice president of Cameron Controls. "GE provides hardware to various segments within the subsea market, and we are confident of rapid customer acceptance. The GE network of global support is also critical to the overall support of our customers."
Anthony George, CEO of Optivelo Corporation, which specified and integrated the control components, said, "We work with controls from a variety of manufacturers and felt that GE Fanuc offers the best mix of critical control products and expertise, which are crucial in this application."
Cameron''s CAMTROL systems will incorporate GE Fanuc''s reliable Series 90™-70 Critical Control TUV SIL 3 Certified GMR® Solution PLCs and CIMPLICITY® HMI Plant Edition Version 6.0 software, which offer such capabilities as advanced diagnostics, remote monitoring, design modularity and increased redundancy. The worldwide support of GE will also enhance Cameron''s global network of CAMSERV™ Service Centers for aftermarket service.
"Incorporating GE Fanuc''s TUV SIL 3-certified critical control solution into Cameron''s subsea system is an excellent fit from both product functionality and corporate philosophy standpoints," said Kevin O''Connor, vice president of GE Fanuc. "Both GE Fanuc and Cameron have implemented Six Sigma programs extensively and are committed to using this methodology to achieve the highest quality products and services that provide a competitive advantage to customers."
