Shaped Electromagnetic Field (SEF) sensor outputs linear signal corresponding to volume present in water, coolant, or oil tank with nonuniform cross section. It occupies less space than float-type sensor, yet costs no more in volume quantities. Floatless level sensor also mounts noninvasively on plastic tanks.
