Alvey Systems, Inc., an FKI Logistex company and integrator of material and information flow solutions, has extended its family of modular conveyor systems with the introduction of a steel frame version of its Accuzone™ case conveyor. Steel frame Accuzone has been developed for manufacturing and distribution environments that demand precise product handling and system flexibility with the added durability and compatibility of steel.
Based on a modular design, Accuzone provides accumulation zones -- individually powered and controlled -- for accurate placement of conveyed product, one unit per zone. Instead of chains, belts or pneumatics, Accuzone''s drive rollers utilize precision 24-volt direct current (DC) brushless motors. Each zone has its own drive roller, which allows for zone operation only when product has to move. Because each section remains at rest until a previous section releases a tote or carton, true zero-pressure accumulation is achieved and noise levels are significantly reduced.
Ease of installation and safety are also a priority with Accuzone. The Accuzone system consists of easily connected, standalone modules with pre-set zone controls that are delivered pre-assembled. Installation is simple: the customer bolts the modules together, plugs the power and communications cables together, and hooks the system to a power supply. No special tools are required, making disassembly and reconfiguration just as easy.
There are no air hook-up or high-voltage power requirements. The drive rollers are powered by a 24-volt power supply. Power to the idler rollers within each zone is transmitted from the drive roller by maintenance-free urethane O-rings. The 24 Vdc power eliminates the need for high-voltage power and control wiring, ensuring maximum operator safety.
The Accuzone conveyor line includes a range of standard straight, curve, merge/divert, and right angle and incline/decline transfer modules, in widths from 16 to 34 inches. Accuzone is capable of transporting up to 75 pounds per zone, at speeds ranging from 30 to 240 feet per minute.
