Four-axis twin turret machining capability for production manufacturing is available in FeatureCAM's latest release. The new 4-axis functionality is seamlessly integrated into FeatureCAM's existing turning programs. Combined with the software's full machine simulation, synchronized turning provides production machinists full program control and cycle-time reduction. It supports synchronization, follow turning, and pinch turning.
Machines with dual spindles and up to four turrets, common in production turning environments such as automotive and aerospace manufacturing, can be programmed. In addition, machine simulation allows programmers to set up attributes for each type of machine, including horsepower and preferred feeds and speeds.
"With FeatureCAM's synchronized turning, CNC programmers will get the control they need to reduce cycle times and make several parts quickly, with good tolerance and surface finish," says Tom McCollough, vp of Software Development for FeatureCAM.
