Model 3216 temperature controller, only 90 mm deep, has been designed with machine builders and OEMs in mind. From Eurotherm, the 3216 has a text display, high accuracy input, 5 onboard process recipes (48 parameters per recipe) and Eurotherm's patented Instant Accuracy® system. The text display makes it easy for anyone to use or configure the controller. If a user scrolls to a parameter and hesitates a few seconds, the text display begins scrolling in marquee fashion. The display gives a description of that parameter in plain English (or one of 3 other languages). Ordering, configuration, and maintenance have been simplified to simple code that completely specifies the functionality and configuration.

Features of the 3216 include universal input, universal power supply, the ability to download custom input curves, digital communications, IP65 rating, and the availability of a current transformer input for monitoring load current. In addition, Eurotherm has released a new version of its graphical configuration software (iTools). The configuration interface is extremely small (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) and allows the controller to be configured without connecting it to a power source. The outputs are configurable for heating, cooling, and alarms.
