Crimper Doesn't Cramp Battery Specialist's Style

It didn’t take long for Mike Moeller, president of Milwaukee-based Remy Battery, to know that the Quick Cable HexCrimp pneumatic crimper they purchased was going to make life easier for his business and his employees. In fact, the HexCrimp Pneumatic Crimper has replaced most of the tabletop and handheld crimpers used at Remy.

“We love it,” said Moeller about the HexCrimp pneumatic crimper. “We love the relative speed with which you can crimp and the flexibility to run all size gauge of cables through the unit, especially the larger gauge cables.

“Another advantage is that when we would previously use the tabletop or handheld crimpers, they would cause so much wear and tear on our guys. You don’t have that with the pneumatic crimper. It’s efficient, and you can easily go from doing a run of 20 cables of one size to doing a run of 1,000 of another.

“Any high volume cable shop will want to have this unit,” added Moeller, who said that another benefit of the unit is that “it’s so easy to use that you don’t need to do a lot of training.”

Engineered and manufactured by Quick Cable, the HexCrimp Pneumatic Crimper has five distinct features:

  • Crimp connectors and wire from 8 gauge to 4/0, including straight clamps, elbows, flags, and lugs. It also crimps SBs and DIN connectors, and is the only machine that will safely and successfully crimp flag connectors.
  • All crimps are secure and exceed UL and SAE standards with over 20,000 pounds of crimp force.
  • The unit comes in a turnkey operation... bolt down the unit, connect an air supply of 80-100 psi, and you’re ready to crimp.
  • The 8-position adjustable dies allow users to change settings with a simple touch of the pin.
  • The easy-to-use foot pedal allows you to keep your hands free to handle the piece you’re crimping. You get secure crimps in just three seconds!

“This machine is designed to save time and money for the user,” said Ken Bons, Quick Cable vice president of sales and marketing. “It’s economical, easy to set up, easy to use, and easy to maintain. It is truly universal in its usage, and all you need is a single-air inlet; no electrical power is required. Our customers that use it love it.”
