Carl Zeiss IMT Corp has added to its Prismo series the Prismo VARIO coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with multisensor capability. The product was developed in response to inquiries from manufacturers requesting more flexibility in part inspection. With the new Prismo VARIO, users can access a wide range of Zeiss probing technologies for great flexibility and non-obsolescence in a CMM.
Prismo VARIO models offer x, y, z measuring ranges from 27 x 35 x 19 in. to 47 x 165 x 39 in. With an accuracy of up to u1 = 2.0 + L/350, the Prismo VARIO meets the most demanding measuring tasks. The machine's accuracy is guaranteed over a temperature range from 18-26°C (64-79°F).
Sensor System
To meet different measurement requirements, users can interchangeably replace probes. The DT Dyna-touch probe (pictured) offers highly precise single point measurements; the RDS (rotary dynamic sensor) system measures extremely complex geometries. The probe permits indexing steps of 2.5 degrees and a measuring range of 2 x 360 degrees in any axis of rotation.
The versatile VASTXT active scanning probe head allows a variety of probing methods suitable for a wide array of measuring tasks such as fast, single-point measurement, scanning of form elements, known and unknown contours.
With the ViSCAN optical probe the operator can perform optical measuring tasks in all directions.
Prismo VARIO is available with Windows NT-based Calypso CAD software. Calypso can be combined with HOLOS, designed for the measurement of 3D surfaces and DIMENSION, a software designed for reverse engineering tasks.
